As science and technology advanced, people began to develop a wide array of new types of sensors.

 

The development of modern sensor processors began in the 19th century, when scientists started applying electrical principles to achieve sensing and measurement capabilities. For instance, devices such as resistive sensors and potentiometers are examples of sensors that utilize electrical principles for perception. Driven by advancements in electronics and materials science, both the variety and performance of sensors have continuously improved.

Modern sensors encompass a diverse range of types-including optical sensors, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, and accelerometers-and are now widely deployed across various fields, such as industry, agriculture, healthcare, and transportation.
